St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church is located at 1790 Lavista Road, Atlanta, GA 30329.
About the Church
Founded in 1954, St. Bartholomew’s continues to be a place known for, and where great care is given to, worship—the liturgy, the music, and the sermons. This is the central place in our community where people are renewed in their baptismal identity and nourished spiritually. We open our doors to all who seek God or a deeper knowledge of God. Glimpses of true community can be seen at coffee hour and at breakfast where tables are packed, people are alive with conversation, relationships are being renewed, and barriers removed. We want to know what is going on in one another’s lives and how we can help and be present in the needful places.
About the Organ
The Rex Rector Memorial Organ, Opus 29 of Rosales Organ Builders, was built in 2003 and is one of the finest instruments or its kind in the Atlanta area. Equally suited to the sacred music of liturgy as well as secular concert music, the organ has been featured on professional recordings by organists and chamber ensemble and has been heard on Pipedreams.
The bold Great principal chorus is this instrument’s heart and soul, based upon a solid 16-foot Prestant and majestically warm 8-foot Principal. The Swell chorus has its own lighter character, while adding unmistakably to the Great’s. A subtle sophistication shines through the organ’s twenty-six registers. The organ possesses a range of color normally associated with larger instruments.
