Carl Rütti (b. 1949) is one of the outstanding Swiss composers of our time. His extensive catalogue of compositions includes a number of striking and colorful works for solo organ. Rütti has also composed anthems and longer choral works with organ accompaniment, all of which deserve to be more widely known and performed here in the United States. This workshop will feature performances of several of Rütti’s solo organ compositions, including Veni Creator Spiritus and Die Himmelsleiter. It will also highlight movements and excerpts from Ruütti’s choral works with organ accompaniment, as well as his dazzling and virtuosic Concerto No. 2 for organ, strings, and percussion.
