There was only one Robert Shaw. His supreme intellect, his force of personality, his musicianship, his standards for study and performance, and his dynamic vision for the place of the arts in modern society literally transformed the lives of all who worked with him. A giant of the 20th century musical scene, Shaw almost single-handedly created a distinctly American choral style.
Shaw was a master teacher who could perform extraordinary musical feats with any chorus, large or small, in just a few concentrated hours of rehearsal. Using workshop participants as well as members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Choruses as a laboratory choir, this session will focus on the revolutionary and amazingly effective training methods of this choral legend and applying these disciplines to standard repertoire for your own choir
