About

Peggy Kelley Reinburg’s fascination with the music of Jehan Ariste Alain began in her first year as an organ student with Jean Slater Edson at Mary Washington College/ University, where she earned a BA in Music. Following the completion of coursework at Union Theological Seminary, NYC, where she was a student of Gustav Leonhardt and Robert Fountain, she concentrated in Sacred Music and Musicology at Northwestern University and studied organ with Dr. Richard Enright, earning the MMus degree with honors.

She served as Organist and Associate Professor of Music at Mary Washington and simultaneously as Organist at George Washington University, followed by faculty positions at Duquesne University and Virginia Wesleyan University in Norfolk, VA.

As a solo organ recitalist, she has performed across the USA, Europe, Canada and Australia. Reinburg is critically acclaimed for her “elegant and exciting playing, her command of period performance practices and her imaginative programming.”

Her book, Arp Schnitger, Organ Builder: Catalyst for the Centuries, was the first in English on the subject. In 2014, she also completed 15 years as the Founding Artistic Director of The Organ Swell, the ongoing annual series featuring regional organists performing with Virginia Symphony Orchestra musicians. She also designed and co-implemented the national pilot project for the Pipe Organ Encounters as a member of the Task Force on the New Organist.

Most recently she has been Dean of the Tidewater Chapter, spearheading an AGO Pipe Organ Encounter for Youth and the hosting of the 2009 Regional Convention.
